Rental Permit Program

Springdale City Council has recognizes the need to preserve and promote the quality of existing housing and to provide for safe and sanitary housing conditions for residential tenants.

The Rental Program ordinance requires all owners of single family rental dwellings to obtain a permit annually for each rental dwelling unit. Rental Permits must be renewed annually and at every change of tenancy. Within fourteen (14) days of a change of tenancy, a new Rental Permit Application must be filed with the Building Department.

Inspections of the Rental Unit may now be performed by the Building Department, a Licensed Home Inspector, or by the property owner. If the Building Department does not perform the inspection, a Rental Permit Inspection Waiver must be completed.

You can apply for a rental permit by filling out the Rental Permit Application and emailing it to building [at] springdale.org or by using our citizen portal online. 

The Rental Permit Program is intended to cover the staff costs to administrate the program.

The Annual Rental Permit fee is currently $75.00, plus a Processing Base Fee of $50.00.  The Permit Fee is intended to address the cost incurred by the Building Official in the initial review (and one re-review), as well as the initial inspection (and one re-inspection/certification), and the administrative processing of the Rental Permit.  Additional reviews or inspections shall incur re-review and re-inspections fees. 

Please Know That the Fee Schedule includes a new Penalty Fee for Renting without a Permit of $150.00.  Please obtain and keep your Rental Unit current with the City's Rental Permit Program
