The Renewal Process

Rental Permits must be renewed every year or within 14 days of a change of occupancy. To renew your rental's permit, you must submit a Rental Permit Application and ensure you have a valid Certificate of Compliance on file. Certificates of Compliance are valid for 3 years, provided there has not been a change of tenant(s). Fees will be assessed according to the Fee Schedule.

Inspections of the property may now be completed by the Building Department, a Licensed Home Inspector, or by the property owner. You will indicate your method of inspection on the Certificate of Compliance.

The Rental Portal

You may use the Rental Portal to search for an existing rental permit. You must search for your rental property by using its Entity Number. Using the portal, you can view the status of an existing permit, upload renewal documents, and pay any applicable fees.

The Registration Process

To register a new rental, you must submit a Rental Permit Application and Certificate of Compliance to the Building Department. These documents can be submitted by emailing them to Building [at] Springdale.org or by dropping them off at our office. Fees will be assessed according to the Fee Schedule.

Inspections of the property may be completed by the Building Department, a Licensed Home Inspector, or by the property owner. You will indicate your method of inspection on the Certificate of Compliance.

The Annual Rental Permit Fee is currently $75.00, plus a Processing Base Fee of $50.00.  The Permit Fee is intended to address the cost incurred by the Building Official in the initial review (and one re-review), as well as the initial inspection (and one re-inspection/certification), and the administrative processing of the Rental Permit.  Additional reviews or inspections shall incur re-review and re-inspections fees. 

Please know the Fee Schedule includes a new $150 Penalty Fee for Renting without a Permit.  Please obtain and maintain your Rental Permit in order to stay compliance with Chapter 123 of the Springdale Municipal Code.
