Bernice O. Biddle was born in March of 1900. She moved to Springdale in 1925 with her husband and lived in the same house until she pasted away in March of 2005. She devoted her life to helping others, serving on the Springdale Elementary PTA, a Scout leader, a taught both Vacation Bible School and Child Evangelism, volunteered at Drake Hospital, Goodwill, and Maple Knoll Village. She played piano for Sunday School at the Glenview Boys Home in Glendale and taught Sunday School at Valley Chapel. In 1980, she founded the Sunshine Bible Class at Maple Knoll which she attended regularly until she was 103. At the age of 90, she presided as Grand Marshall of Maple Knoll's special event, the Walk of Ages. That same year, she went to New Orleans to the annual conference of the American Association of Homes for the Aging to help present the program about the Walk of Ages event. At the age of 100, Mrs. Biddle was honored at Maple Knoll as one of the oldest and cherished volunteers. She was given the key to the City of Springdale along with a proclamation declaring March 11 Bernice Biddle Day.
Today, a landscape area and a bronze plaque serve as a reminder of Mrs. Biddle's efforts to bring positivity and goodwill towards the residents of the communtiy, especailly those of the Clovedale subidivision where she once lived.
