A comprehensive plan is a long-range statement of a community’s vision for the future. It provides guidance for decision making related to development, preservation, and the provision of services and public facilities. It is a formal policy document that is adopted by the city but is implemented through zoning regulations, and other ordinances, laws, and initiatives in the community.

As a citizen, business owner, or property owner in Springdale, you have made an important choice to invest in the community. If you like the community the way it is, you should care because change is always happening. If you want aspects of the community improved, you should care enough to help identify what needs to be addressed. This is your best chance to make your voice heard in how Springdale looks and thrives in the future.

The city hopes to develop an updated vision and supporting recommendations for future planning efforts that have been embraced and developed with the community’s input. By doing so, the comprehensive plan will assist in ensuring that any future priorities and decisions are made with the citizen’s vision in mind.  It is also an opportunity to get more people involved in the city’s future and catalyze change together.

The planning process is being led by city staff, planning consultants, and a steering committee to represent a cross section of the community. The steering committee is charged with meeting on a regular basis to guide the planning consultant (McBride Dale Clarion) in the creation of several milestone deliverables; and to process and reflect on information and input provided by the broader public over the next year.

There will be a series of input opportunities specifically designed for you to share your ideas and review drafts of the plan.
