The mission of the Springdale Fire Department is to preserve life and property by maintaining a corps of professional, properly trained and fully equipped personnel capable of providing fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services to those in need.
The Springdale Fire Department has been providing emergency services to the residents of Springdale for over 60 years.
Founded in 1939, the department originally had an all volunteer roster. Staffing is achieved through a combination of full time and part time firefighter paramedics and firefighter EMT’s in the station at all times. Full time members work on a 24 hour on duty 48 hours off duty rotation. The Springdale Fire Department holds an ISO Rating of 2.

The Fire Chief is the head administrative
officer of the Springdale Fire Department and is charged with overseeing the
day-to-day operations of the department in the delivery of firefighting
and emergency medical services.
Chief Michael Hoffman is a twenty-four year veteran of the Springdale
Fire Department and a third generation firefighter.Michael began
his career as a volunteer with the Withamsville Fire Department in 1980.
He was later promoted to a full-time Fire Captain position with Withamsville in
1986 and remained there until the department dissolved in 1990.Later
that year in October, Michael started his employment with the City
of Springdale as a part-time firefighter.In June 1996, he was
selected to become the City’s full-time Chief Fire Inspector.Chief
Hoffman served in that capacity until 2008, when he competed for and was
successfully chosen to become the City’s next Assistant Fire Chief.
Following the retirement of then Fire Chief Daniel Shroyer in 2012, Michael was
appointed as the Acting Fire Chief and subsequently was permanently chosen to
lead the men and women of the Springdale Fire Department as the new Fire Chief.
Chief Hoffman obtained his National Registry Paramedic certification in 1996.
He received an Associates Degree in Fire Science Technology
from Northern Kentucky University in 1985.Throughout
his career, Chief Hoffman has participated in and attended several advanced
training leadership courses, as well as fire investigation training through
the Ohio Fire Academy.Michael is the proud father of two daughters and one granddaughter.When not at the firehouse, he
enjoys golfing, racquetball, and auto racing.
