September 4, 2012 (Natural Gas Aggregation Program News):

At the August 15 Council meeting, Council voted to move forward with the City's Natural Gas Aggregation program on a variable rate basis. That means the City will not lock-in a permanent 12-month or 24-month rate for the program at this time, but will identify and lock-in the best available rate on a monthly basis. If we find that it will be more advantageous at a later date, we will then lock-in a fixed rate for a longer term.

The City's Natural Gas Supplier (IGS) was scheduled to mail out the "Opt-out" letter this past Friday, August 31. The letter

a) identifies the rate to be charged; b) provides the terms and conditions of the program; and c) gives the resident the opportunity to opt-out of (not participate in) the program. Once they receive the letter, residents will have 21 days to opt-out. Should the resident choose to participate and not opt-out, following the 21 days, they will receive a 2nd letter from Duke Energy confirming their decision to participate in the City's natural gas aggregate program. The resident then has 7 additional days to opt-out of the program. If they do not, they should be able to experience the new natural gas rate following their next meter reading date. This part of the process is very similar to the electric aggregate program.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the City of Springdale at 346-5700.

June 14, 2012 (Natural Gas Aggregation Program News):

Over the past few weeks residents have contacted the City Municipal Building with concerns over receiving phone calls and/or visits from persons representing energy companies.  Based upon the information provided by our residents, these persons appear to be Natural Gas Energy Suppliers.  They are attempting to get residents to sign up with their natural gas programs.   If you do not wish to talk with them, tell them and if they insist, call the Springdale Police Department (513) 346-5760.  At this time, the City has not issued any solicitor’s permits to Natural Gas Suppliers to be in the community.  Whether they have a permit or not, if you do not want them on your property simply ask them to leave.

Every resident is free to choose their own Natural Gas Supplier.  However, it is the City’s intent to have a Natural Gas Aggregation Program (similar to the Electric Aggregation Program) in place by the cold weather season.   You will not be required to participate in the City’s program (that will be an option available to you).

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the City of Springdale at 346-5700.

June 14, 2012 (Electric Aggregation Program News):

If you have joined the City's Electric Aggregation Program, by now you should be realizing the savings due to the lower electric rate provided by the program.

March 22, 2012 (Electric Aggregation Program News):

For those residents who are not Duke Energy customers, but would like to join the Springdale Electric Aggregation Program, please take the following steps:
1) Advise your current supplier that you wish to end your contract (Ask your supplier if they will charge you a switching fee.)
2) After advising your current supplier, please call DP&L at 888-674-3753 and tell them you wish to join the Springdale Aggregation Program. (Have a copy of your Duke Energy bill on hand as you will need to provide DP&L with your Duke Energy account number.)

Unfortunately some residents have received the letter from DP&L when they should not have. If you have signed up with an alternate energy supplier (other than Duke Energy) and wish to remain with that supplier AND you received the letter from DP&L, please disregard the letter. You do not need to respond to the offer.
