FSO/RFE Inspections
Mrs. Mitrione said enclosed in the packet is an FSO/RFE inspection schedule. She said the class 4 food services receive four inspections a year and the others get two. The inspection period runs March to March. She said critical control point violations such as improper sanitizing and hand washing can cause foodborne illness. The standard inspections look at the floors, walls, etc.
Food Samples
Mrs. Mitrione said food samples are taken of cold, ready-to-eat foods and checked for coliform and standard plate counts. She said First Watch has a problem with getting dishes clean and the dishwasher water is not high enough temperature at Ponderosa. She said buttermilk based products cause high counts. Mrs. Mitrione said the sanitarians help the FSO/RFEs figure out their problems.
Mrs. Mitrione stated the City-wide blood drive was this week and ends on Friday.
Nuisances
Mrs. Mitrione reported that she talked to The Willows’ property manager on ways to handle the bedbug problem. She said a new pest control company went through the entire complex and evaluated each unit. Mrs. Mitrione said she told the management to spray paint or tear up furniture placed in the dumpster to prevent it from being reused in another apartment to prevent the spread of bedbugs. She said the company should be more aggressive in treating issues.
Dr. Ketring asked if extermination will kill the bedbugs and Mrs. Mitrione replied, yes, if done consistently.
