NEW BUSINESS
Proposed Food Fees for 2009
Mrs. Mitrione reported the food license fees are up a little from last year probably due to higher utility bills and the food sampling hours are up. The fees are lower than the other health departments in the area.
Critt R Catch R
Critt R Catch R has increased their fees $5 charging $85 for trap set-up and $55 for animal removal.
HEALTH COMMISISONER’S REPORT
Smoking Violations
Mrs. Mitrione stated The Boulevard has been fined $1,000 and has asked for an administrative review at the October meeting.
There was a complaint of smoking near the loading dock at Pappadeaux and issues of smoking in the
Health Department Community Activities
Mrs. Mitrione said twenty-one people had mammograms at the mobile mammography van. She stated four needed follow-up and three of those came back.
Mrs. Mitrione stated the Health Department participated in a Back to School Community Outreach program with Soul Winning Church of God; Healthy Women/Healthy Lives with The Vineyard, Bethesda Hospital, and Sharonville; and Springdale Towne Center Safety Days.
Coyotes
Mayor Webster said there have been coyote sightings. He said they have tried to educate the residents to keep garbage closed and not to feed the animals.
Dr. Ketring asked Mrs. Mitrione to check with the County Wildlife Officer on the legality of feeding deer.
NURSE’S REPORT
Flu Immunizations
Mrs. Hicks stated two flu immunization clinics have been set
for November 6 and November 13. She said
they are billing Medicare for those residents who have Medicare Part B and/or
Mayor Webster asked if
Immunization Program Evaluation
Mrs. Hicks reported that the Immunization Program was evaluated by the State and the verbal assessment was very positive.
General Information
Mrs. Hicks said she continues home visitations for those who don’t qualify for Medicare help. She also does the cholesterol screenings although that does not take the place of a doctor visit.
Pandemic Flu Planning
Mrs. Hicks said antibodies are being stockpiled for an anthrax/bioterrorism event. She said that the National Institute of Health (NIH) press release encouraged stockpiling of antibiotics also as part of pandemic influenza preparation to treat those who become ill with bacterial pneumonia after having had the flu.
