BOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES

March 8, 2007

President Doyle Webster called the Board of Health to order on March 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

REGULATION R1-2007

Mrs. Mitrione read Regulation R1-2007 “A REGULATION OF THE SPRINGDALE BOARD OF HEALTH AMENDING BOARD OF HEALTH REGULATION R1-1998 TO ESTABLISH FEES FOR PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS, PUBLIC SPAS AND SPECIAL USE POOLS”

NEW BUSINESS

Critt R Catch R

Mrs. Mitrione reported she had more information on Critt R Catch R. She said all traps are checked and animals removed within 24 hours. She said they are following State guidelines and regulations on traps. They will allow three after-hour service calls for free.

Coyote with limp

Mrs. Mitrione said a coyote with a limp was sighted in Springdale and she mentioned it to the company. No action has been taken.

Smoking Issue

Mrs. Mitrione stated she signed an agreement with ODH to enforce the smoking ban. She said in the future, Springdale Health Department may receive complaints from ODH and SHD will follow up with a visit/letter to provide educational material to the offenders. She said she checked with ODH and they stated that ninety percent of the fines collected will stay locally. She said a letter has been sent to all proprietors from ODH notifying them of a new law and upcoming rules.

Cats

Mrs. Mitrione reported all the cats have been removed from the Perkins area and all the belongings have been removed.

Food Sampler

Mrs. Mitrione stated the current food sampler is resigning as food sampler after April 1, 2007 due to health issues and desire to be retired. Mrs. Mitrione said we have an employee who is retiring in September who would like to take over the job. Mrs. Mitrione said a part-time employee at the Recreation Center will take the job in the interim.

Nurse’s Report

Mrs. Hicks said the cholesterol screening date is being changed to the third Thursday of the month.

Bird Flu Vaccine

Mrs. Hicks stated a bird flu vaccine is being developed in the US and we may be able to give vaccine if the bird flu develops. It would be a temporary vaccine.

Children’s Health Fair

Mrs. Hicks stated they have had a good response form all the schools. Ninety-eight students from private schools will be coming.
