DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)
The
Springdale Police Department conducts the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance
Education) program at Springdale Elementary School and Heritage Hill Elementary School.
Primary students (Preschool through Third Grade) also receive D.A.R.E. safety
lessons, and the Third Graders participate in the Ohio Department of Public
Safety's Third Grade Safety Belt program.
Springdale's first D.A.R.E. Officer, starting in 1992, was Greg Reuscher, now
retired. Other D.A.R.E. Officers included Rick Neumann, now a Patrol
Lieutenant, Randy Pierce, now a Patrol Sergeant, and Jeff Witte, now
retired. The current D.A.R.E. Officer is Marsha Bemmes-Hoctor. Officer
Bemmes-Hoctor has a BAC from Bowling Green State University and MS from Xavier University. She received her D.A.R.E. training in April of 2004.
