Officer Roger Petrey was born in Jellico TN. He graduated from Glen Este High School in 1970. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned an Associates Degree in 1977 and a Bachelors Degree from the Union Institute & University in Criminal Justice in 2001. Roger started his Career in Clermont County as a Criminal Investigator in the Welfare Frauds Unit in 1975 He was also an Auxiliary Officer for the New Richmond Police Department. In 1978 he took a position with the Clermont County Sheriffs Department. He was promoted to Corporal in 1979. In April 1980 he accepted a position with the Amberley Village Police Department. While there he held a variety of post such as, Traffic Accident Investigator and Detective. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1993 He held that position until retirement in December 2001. He attended the 18th session of the Police Executive Leadership College and the 201st session of the FBI National Academy. During his career he was active in the HCPA as an executive board member and Commander of the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. While on the team he was awarded the HCPA Officer of the Year Award for Valor in 1985 for the rescue of a drowning victim from the Lakeshore Apartments in Reading Ohio. Roger joined the Springdale Police Department May 2007 as an Auxiliary Officer. He is married and enjoys Fishing, Biking, Sailing, Kayaking and Canoeing in his spare time.
