Mayor Webster said your police force from top to bottom make us very proud every day the way you represent this City. The presentation by Retro Bill at the Community Center was very moving.

Mr. Osborn said I want to recognize Mike Laage who is serving as President of the Ohio Police Chiefs Association. It reflects very positively on our community.

Mr. Danbury said when we had Springdale Day at the Reds Officer Bemmes was able to get about 100 free tickets for kids.

    ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS

ORDINANCE NO. 22-2008 “ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CLERK OF COUNCIL/FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH BP PRODUCTS NORTH AMERICA, INC., FOR GASOLINE AND DIESEL FUEL AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY”

Mr. Vanover made a motion to adopt and Mr. Wilson seconded.

Ordinance 22-2008 passed with seven affirmative votes.

    OLD BUSINESS

Mayor Webster said I would like to acknowledge Mr. Danbury for his efforts in the second annual Springdale Day at the Cincinnati Reds.

    NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Osborn stated we have some vehicles we would like to sell at auction; four police vehicles manufactured from 1995 to 2003 and a 1994 Ford Ranger that was a confiscated vehicle. We will have legislation at the next meeting authorizing the sale of these vehicles.

Mayor Webster read a proclamation for Building Safety Week.

Mayor Webster said not to take anything away from our fine Police and Fire Departments but those people are in uniform and they are out there front and center. There are a lot of activities going on behind the scenes and the Building Department is one of those we can be very proud of. We have not had a major building problem in this City and hopefully we won’t in the years to come. Bill McErlane and his staff do a great job.

Mr. Vanover said most people don’t even realize that in my line of work we get a new code every three years and if we are expected to be up on it, the Building Department has to be too. There are a lot of unsung and unnoticed heroes out there in the trenches who deserve a pat on the back.
